Sorry to hear about your Megos coming apar...Hi Ches<br />Sorry to hear about your Megos coming apart. The good news is that they can be fixed with elastic string found at any fabric shop and some TLC. Pop off the heads, run the string in to the neck opening, then the right arm, then down through the midsection to the right leg, then through the pelvis to the left leg, then back up through the midsection to the leg arm and out the neck. Tie of the string and pop the head back on, your Mego will stay together for a good while. Unfortunately, rubber bands or rubber shaped toys of any type will dry out eventually. Generally, my basement is quite dry as the air doesn't circulate very well down there, plus it's dusty, so their is very little moisture in the air to keep something made of rubber from drying out. I learned the hard way (like you) only to store collectables with no rubber components in the basement, only solid plastic toys, plush toys or paper items like comics, board games and puzzles. I also no longer store my collection in carboard boxes as some types of cardboard are made with dye that can off gas and change the colour of the plastic toys stored in the box. That really suck when that happens! Anyways, best of luck with re-stringing your Megos!Mikey Artellehttps://www.blogger.com/profile/08284787922442749447noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1884279546717598325.post-45640653100004778742021-01-01T19:51:03.092-08:002021-01-01T19:51:03.092-08:00I was looking at my collection of retro-mego Star ...I was looking at my collection of retro-mego Star Trek 8" figures and found several of them in a heap of arms and legs. The rubber bands appear to have dissolved in ther bodies. My figures are displayed in a basement no where near any direct sunlight. I have mego figures from the 1970s that have lasted longer. I'm so disappointed.
